How it works

1

Add your image

Drag & drop, paste from the clipboard, or pick a file. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF all work.

2

We read it locally

A neural OCR engine runs inside your browser — your image never touches a server.

3

Copy clean text

One click to copy or download. Optional cleanup fixes broken lines and hyphenation.

Why this one?

No uploads, ever

The OCR engine runs in your browser via WebAssembly. Airplane mode works after the first load.

Accurate neural OCR

Powered by PP-OCRv6 — English, German, French, Japanese and Korean printed text, locally.

Smart text cleanup

Un-breaks hard-wrapped lines, removes stray hyphens and normalizes whitespace — without touching your content.

Free, no sign-up

No accounts, no watermarks, no page limits. It is just a web page.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The OCR engine runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your image never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Which image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF. If your browser can display it, we can usually read it.

Which languages can it read?

Printed English, German, French, Japanese and Korean, plus Chinese. Handwriting and heavily stylized type are less reliable.

How accurate is the text recognition?

For clear printed text — screenshots, scans, book photos — accuracy is typically excellent. Handwriting, heavy blur or very small text reduce accuracy. A sharper, higher-resolution image always helps.

Is it really free?

Yes. Because processing happens on your device, it costs us almost nothing to run — so there are no limits, accounts or watermarks.
