The service

copyfrom.net is a free website that extracts text from images, screenshots and PDFs in your browser. That includes full-document extraction, a user-selected region, optional table reconstruction, and optional text cleanup. We do not receive or store the files you open. How that works is described inPrivacy, which is part of these terms.

Your content

You keep whatever rights you already have in the files you process and in the text that comes out. We do not claim ownership of that material. We also never see it, so we cannot grant you rights you do not already have.

Acceptable use

Use the tools only on content you are allowed to process. You are responsible for what you do with the extracted text, including copyright, confidentiality and any other law that applies to you. Do not use the site to break the law or to attack the service (scraping that harms availability, exploiting bugs for access that is not yours, and so on).

Accuracy

OCR and table reconstruction are probabilistic. Digital PDF text layers can also be wrong (broken fonts, bad encodings). Results may omit characters, invent them, or mis-draw a table. Always proofread before you rely on a result — especially for legal, medical, financial or identity documents. The optional cleanup pass only normalizes wrapping and similar layout noise; it does not verify meaning.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We may change, pause or stop any part of the site.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, copyfrom.net and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from the use of — or inability to use — this service.

Third-party software

The site uses open-source libraries and models (including PaddleOCR, pdf.js, ONNX Runtime and others) under their own licenses. Those licenses are between you and the respective authors when you run the code in your browser. Hosting is provided by Cloudflare; analytics, when enabled, is provided by Google. Their terms apply to their part of the stack.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top is the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
