Most “free OCR” sites upload your screenshots and documents to their servers. We don’t have servers to upload to — the OCR engine and PDF parser run inside your browser with WebAssembly.
- Works offline after the first load
- Nothing stored, nothing logged
- Safe for contracts, IDs and invoices
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? What’s the catch?
There is no catch. Because the processing happens on your device instead of on our servers, running this site costs almost nothing — so there are no limits, accounts or watermarks.
What can I extract text from?
Images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF), screenshots pasted straight from the clipboard, and PDFs — including scanned PDFs, which are OCRed automatically page by page.
Which languages are supported?
OCR reads printed English, German, French, Japanese and Korean, plus Chinese. PDF text-layer extraction works with any language the PDF contains.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It is a web page: the OCR models and PDF parser are downloaded once and then run inside the browser tab, so it also keeps working offline.
